Over 20 years ago, Sicav Srl expanded its production to include sheet metal moulding and metal component assembly amongst its services.
The company handles the entire product development process, from mould design to mass production and process engineering.
Sicav Srl specialises in: sunroof support frames, pillar reinforcements, frames for courtesy lights and shock absorbers.
Since the 2000s, Sicav Srl has specialised in metal moulding (or more specifically, sheet metal moulding) for the automotive sector, by adding metal products to its plastic range. Moulding is a mechanical process performed using moulding presses that deform cold metal by applying stretching and reshaping forces.
In this way, a flat element (the sheet metal to be moulded) is deformed into a hollow element, i.e. the machine-mounted mould. The resulting piece requires further machining and aesthetic finishes to assume its final appearance.
Sheet metal moulding or deep-drawing is one of the most important metalworking processes as it allows a wide range of highly complex geometric shapes, in addition to patterns with engravings, holes and slits, to be produced - all of which are essential when it comes to metal components for the automotive sector.
The sheet metal moulding and assembly department is equipped with mechanical presses and spot welding machines from 65 t to 400 t. The machinery allows for the complete production of the finished product, starting from the coil blanks to the part obtained by means of deep-drawing, shearing and forming operations.
